Customer Service Dumb Question

Have a dumb question about payment account, a friend of mine cancelled their account early and had the $200 early termination fee, now they have their credit card saved on their payment account but "DO NOT" have it setup for direct withdrawl "autopay", but Directv went ahead and charged their account for the $200 with out contacting them first. Was this right or legal for them to do? They wanted to pay but take a month or 2 to make the payment.

When you give them the CC info, they disclaim they will charge it when you cancel service if any fees are do. I'm sure it's in the contract as well. Nothing illegal.
