Customer Referrals on Direct TV--do they still exist?

I want to move from Dish to Direct and wondered if Direct TV still offers referral discounts. I am planning on using my neighbor as a referral so we can both get the $10 off for 10 months. Just wondering if the discount still exists?

Now that I know there are still referrals being paid, is it better to order online with direct tv, or sign up with best buy to get the additional hd receiver for free? Will either option allow me to get the referral discount?

I am hesitant to sign up online with direct because there is no guarantee I will get the newest receiver.

The best buy rep guaranteed I would get the H24, but he could have been lying, since he said there was no problem downgrading from the ultimate package after the five month promotional offer.
