The Christian Science Monitor has published a report on black market satellite TV in Cuba. Similar stories hit the news wires from time to time, but this one includes a lot of specifics regarding the income of Cubans, going prices, fines, and jail time.

The story only mentions Direct TV, and what are probably US-based brokered or shared accounts - no mention of FTA.

I remain curious about the FTA situation in Cuba. No doubt FTA is also illegal - the regime's issue is not with piracy but rather with unfiltered information reaching the Cuban public - but considering the prices Cubans are paying for one channel of black market Direct TV, one would think that FTA would be a more attractive option for many Cubans.

Great Article ........... thanks for posting.
Some of those fines are pretty stiff , just remember this Satellite phenomenon is happening mainly in Havana .

I wish I had paid more attention to what was on TV back at the hotel. It must have been satellite, and there were numerous channels. I'm sure they make exceptions for commercial establishments that entertain foreigners.
