Last night I was thinking about all the man-hours I have tied up in entering my receiver data. (Adding new satellites, editing TPs, making lists of favorites, deleting unwanted channels, etc.) I also remembered an incident 5 months ago when my receiver inexplicably hiccuped and lost all of it's user settings. If it pulls that stunt again, it will take me hours to get back to where I am today.

Given the Viewsat Ultra's serial port and USB drive support I am thinking it may be possible for me to make a back-up for safekeeping. Do any of you create backups of the user entered data?

yep. Channelmaster (SharpC Consulting Group) has an awesom program to edit/delete/add satellites and channels. In alot of cases you use the existing loader from your box and upload it to a file then open it in channelmaster. It saves all your settings

I do that with my Coolsat just in case :)
