Cox Promises 1 Gbps Sometime This Year

I currently have COX's 150 MB service... and I got to be honest... I really see no difference in speed in the 150 MB service over the 50 MB service I had before. The only reason I am keeping the 150 MB service now is because the upload speed is higher then the other package, and I am broadcasting 3 channels of SatelliteGuys Radio from my house, plus I use my Slingboxes from Remote a lot so I need that extra upload speed.

I don't know of ANY site where you can go to and get full GB speed. Hell I dont even know a site where you can go to and get the full 150 MB speed. :D

Assuming services like Xbox Live and Steam can support download speeds that that high it would be amazing for downloading new games. A lot of games are 25GB-45GB these days. That can take quite a while on my 30Mbps service but 150Mbps or 1Gbps would greatly reduce those download times. Luckily I can easily buy a game and initiate a download from my iPhone/iPad/work PC and have the game waiting for me on my system when I get home.

The question is whether or not it would be worth the extra price from a more standard internet package. Like you said, you wouldn't see much difference in web browsing or streaming video. Websites already load up instantly for me and HD streams are no problem with a 30Mbps connection. It would be nice to speed up those large game downloads that I do all the time but being able to initiate them remotely or download them in the background while I play something else makes that less of a hassle.

Steam, Usenet, BitTorrent, Microsoft, FTP, Google Drive, HTTP filehosters like MEGA, Rapidgator, etc; premium membership porn sites like Brazzers, Naughty America, etc. just to name a few places that can saturate a 150 Mbps connection.

If Cox has the connections to providers that are not saturated. Microsoft, Google, Apple can all drive 150 Mbits/sec if the peering is in place.

Any others stuck in the old Bellsouth area without UVERSE availability?
