I don't know if this belongs in this forum. Lyngsat has updated to show Venesat 1 at 78 degrees with new FTA channels in the KU band 11302H and 11624 H. It shows "beam" as coverage area. Anyone in the southern states or Caribbean picking this up?
I tried last week and I could not pick up anything with a 31" dish and a universal LNB.
I think the beam is pointed at Venezuela, but I might try again tonight.
Thanks for responding qwert1515. I suspect the beam will cover further south in S. America since the other channel "Vive" is from Argentina and maybe up to the northern Caribbean ( Cuba). Next month I will move to Ft Lauderdale and hopefully get my polar Fortec 6 footer that is on backorder and will try.
I tried yesterday and got nothing also. From what I read Its a Brazilian sat made by China. And according to Wiki it has the following transponders 12 G-band & 14 J-band
The satellite, the construction of which began in 2002, cost Venezuela 241 million dollars, along with 165 million dollars for two communication headquarters.
The Simon Bolivar will orbit the Earth at 36,000 kilometers (22,300 miles).
The signal from the 5.1 tonne satellite, which will be fully operational by January 2009, will extend from southern Mexico to southern Argentina and Chile.
