I have a Coolsat 5000. Got it from some chump who had hackware on it, so I looked around for the original firmware. Found the version 1.00 on the Coolsat support site, but I KNOW there is 1.01 somewhere because that is the version I had on a previous Coolsat 5000 new from the factory. I don't have that box any longer, so I can't grab the firmware from it, or at the very least do a box to box copy from it to this one.

Turns out that other members on this board have been searching for this mysterious 1.01 as well (based on what I've seen in my searches).

The biggest feature in 1.01 that I'm needing is the fixed motor control. 1.00 doesn't wait nearly long enough for the motor to move to a position before beginning a blind scan. Let's say you're on G10R and you want to blind scan AMC5. It starts scanning almost immediately, but it takes much longer for the motor to actually get there (and much much much longer if you have an HH120).

Anyone have this somewhere???????????????????

nah not there

The only one I found sadly was a hack software. It works for what we want and doesnt get anything extra :)

let me see if I can find it. At one time I had it loaded on my box but didnt like it because the "moving to XX" stayed on the screen if it moved to a satellite that didnt have a channel logged in

edit: found it

According to the PDF posted on their web site a week ago, it looks like they are concerned about a clone of the 5000.
Is that why their current firmware isn't on line?

Seems like a nice receiver.
The five year warranty sounds great.
However, if they don't post current firmware due to clones, that reduces their value.
Anyone care to comment?

Coolsat hasnt updated their software. The factory still comes with either 1.00 or 1.01

1.01 allows you to move a motor a little more finite than a version with 1.01
My box has 1.00 and if I need to nudge I have to moce the motor off the satellite then slowly come back (hitting E or W one at a time) If I nudge it from my existing spot, then the signal goes kaput

version 1.01 allows you to move in much smaller increments

This does kind of s**k big time, but at least with this version, the TP/Blind scan doesn't start until this process stops. And it goes through the process of satellite locating, with 3 scans from left to right on your screen. Which takes totally to much time.

thats good to know.

Usualluy I set it it blind scan 74, 77, 79. I know there is nothing on 77 but if I dont have it stop there, I miss the first little bit of 79.

I think 1.01 also if it hit a data channel would log a radio channel for some reaosn

My search is over. I've been looking everywhere for the 1.01 flash. And, as you discovered, there is a "hacked" 1.01 out there too.

Thanks for posting it, Iceberg! :)

no problem

Sadly some of the older third party software hads options that the factory doesn't. I had an old KUSat 2600 (Digiwave clone) and the 3rd party stuff had USALS & AC-3 output yet the factory didn't. I have no issues downloading the above because it doesn't get anything I'm not suppose to :)
