What is the easiest process to do this? Do you get an ATT wireless account and then bundle, or is there another way?

If you have neither and are looking to be a new customer with both, I'd probably go to an AT&T company owned store (not authorized retailer) and hope they are able to do it successfully.
Lots of stories of messed up accounts when combining, hopefully they have the ability to do a new account for both by now, but alas, it has not been a comfortable merger in many ways.

Gotcha. I have had Directv awhile and my cell is out of contract, so I thought about swapping to ATT if there were any kinda discounts. Wasn't sure if there was an easy way to do it.
I'm in the process of merging and it's a huge cluster. Departments don't communicate between DTV and Att. They both tell you different stories and each say the other is responsible.
Seeing you already have D*, it should be easy ... I would do like Jason said, go to a att store, tell them your a D* sub and want to add ATT cell service.
When I log into either my D* or ATT account online, it will ask me which one I want to access, so they are not on the same bill at all.
I believe it asks if you want to merge the accounts, I always tell it No.

I've been very frustrated since the merger as there seems to be no communication. My Directv contract runs out next month and even though they have given me several credits I may go with Cricket wireless and Vue tv. This would cut my combined bill in half. I'm going to wait for Directv Now to roll out to see what they have to offer.

I was considering same. You can get a free iphone7 if you switch to ATT wireless and have D*.

Thanks, I saw the iphone 7 deal. Ill go into a store with my Directv info and try it out, and WONT combine bills LOL.
