I have had Dish for about a year and I am wanting to put a TV into an additional room in my home.

My setup is this:

I have two recievers... both are dual tuner.

I have purchased a single tuner (the 311) for the seperate room.

Off of my Dish 500, I have two cables. Each cable runs into the room where each dual tuner reciever is. at the reciever, there is what I call a splitter for lack of better knowledge of the terms.

I've thought I read I could do this by purchasing a DP34 so I did.

I have both leads off of the dish plugged in correctly. I have room #1 with a dual tuner plugged into the out to tv port 1 on the DP34, as well as # 2 going to room 2 (dual reciever).

Both dual recievers are giving switch errors. When I test the switch on one of the recievers, I get TV1 with only one of the sats, but the TV2 with both... next time I run the test, I get different results. After running the test 3 or 4 times... I gave up and came here.

Any thoughts? Oh... once this is working, I still want to plug # 3 port into the cable that is running to my new reciever.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have a DishProPlus lnb and are using Separators on both dual tuners. The DP34 switch will not work with the separators so you will have to run two seperate lines to each dual tuner receiver. If you want to use the DP34 switch, you can cascade another DP34 switch for the additional needed line. . . Or get a DishProPlus44 switch, which will allow you to use the serarators with the two current receivers and run another line to the new receiver.

If you want to keep using the separators and one line from the dish you will need to purchase a DPP44 switch and then you can cascade the DP34 of of it. The cheapest way however, if you don't mind running a second line to each of your dual tuners, would be to purchase another DP34.

I didn't think that a DP34 switch would work with a DPP Twin. Please tell me if I am wrong. I also don't understand how a DPP44 Switch could be trumped to a DP34 switch. This is very interesting.
Thanks

I'm setup similar.. I have 2 DP34's .. Off the first one I have 2 lines go to each dual tuner (4 lines gone).. the second one I have going to a 501.. the dual tuners all back feed into another line back to my main wire box where I merge them using a splitter backwards and feed back into the rest of the house.. this makes it so any tv in the house can watch any of the dvrs..

Dish Network doesn't recommend using a DPP Twin with a DP34 but a lot of people are using them and it works. You can cascade a DPP44 off a DP34 and viceversa. I've done it both ways and it works. Currently cascading a DP34 off a DPP44. Of course you lose the 4 satellite in connection if you use the DP34 first.
