Actually fmr FCC Chief Kevin Martin is going to be interrogated by none other than Rep. Maxine (we will socilaize your industry) Waters and Rep John Conyers re: the NBCU /Comcast merger.
• Heads Up: In LA, Monday’s House Judiciary Cte. hearing on the NBC-U/Comcast deal chaired by Rep. John Conyers - D:MI - (otherwise known as the Rep. Maxine Waters - D:CA - pilot ... outside the Beltway follow up by the FCC is set for July) will feature anti-cable former FCC Chair Kevin 'Martian' "testifying." Also the event will likely feature much noise about how the deal will hurt independent voices and minorities.
Of course this is political. But instead of intelligent people, well versed in these matters, seniority and political patronage rules the day. .
In keeping with the required avoidance of politics on this particular thread, I will say this, the Merger will get it's due scrutiny. I believe it to be dead in the water.
IMO such a merger is anti-consumer. It appears to give the merged companies far too much power and influenecewhich would reduce choice and using progressive logic, would increase consumer prices for pay tv services
Anyone else want to take a crack at a guess?
