I have 2 Hopper (old) 1 Joey now, currently paying $85 amonth.
Looking at 2 choices
1 Upgrade 1 Hopper with Sling before 5/22
2 Buy 2 Roku with Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu and drop my bill to $24 a month or less if I don't need all three services. Never tried a Roku or any of the streaming services. If I do this would I be disappointed?

That is an Apples to Oranges proposition. If all you want to watch is movies and older TV shows, a Roku would work. But for network news and programming, many cable channesl, available on demand, etc, you'd probably be happier with what you have. Sling is completely up to you in if you would actually use it.

The sling would be for the faster processor, maybe the iPad and occasionally the remote viewing.
with the Roku I have heard you can get yesterday's network programming, movies, and possibly some nes Chanel's, like Fox News. I don't really know which is why I am reaching out.
for the past five years I have been full time in my RV, with only Verizon's Wireless for Internet. Therefore I never even looked any Internet streaming possibilities. We recently moved into a home with hard wired hi speed Internet, so new choices are possible. It doesn't make the em better, but does open the door to research. The Dish price increase forces a more hasty choice.

I never watch sports anyway. I have been bugging Dish to offer a no spots programming package for years, so weird people like me could either save a buck or get some alternate programming.

If all you want to do is watch some TV shows and movies whenever, and not live, you would be fine with a Roku. The quality of it will depend on your internet though.

If you go with online TV say goodbye to sports. This all depends on your needs and how bad you want to save money.
You can get MLB, NBA and NHL games on the Roku. It'll cost you extra (and wipe out the savings) but you can do it.
