Wave7 Optics announced that Comporium Communications, which serves more than 100,000 access lines and 50,000 cable TV customers, will deploy the vendor's Last Mile Link platform for an expansion of its fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network into the Pulte Homes 3500-home "Sun City Carolina Lakes" development near Charlotte.
Comporium, which is only installing FTTP networks in its Greenfield areas, will begin connecting Sun City homes in March 2006.
When completed, the carrier will offer Sun City residents up to four voice lines, more than 150 channels of digital and high definition video and up to 100 Mb/s of Internet access. Comporium also will add in wireless and security services to its bundle.
The contract is an extension of a relationship Wave7 has had with Comporium for nearly 18 months. Since launching the first system in April 2004, Comporium has deployed more than 25 FTTP networks with another 55 currently planned, encompassing more than 13,000 subscribers.
