Have a question with respect to commercial accounts. Currently I receive most of my programming in the 2000 range. I have all HD-VIP receivers. Commercial accounts can now get AT packages with the channel located in the normal home viewing. I asked if could be switched over and the rep said I could but all new receivers would be required due to new embedded SW. She said it would affect the smart card. Any idea what this is about. I left it all the same for now

That shouldn't make a difference. Like Claude said, that CRS is full of crap. If you have HD VIP receiver then you're fine. All you need to do is ask for the current commercial promotion which are just the regular AT packages with a business fee tacked on. It's the best commercial promotion I've ever seen Dish have.

I did talk to Dish this morning and it is true. Dish said a new virgin G4 smart card or a new boxes would be required. This is the new way of swapping smart cards since most are lost in the mail

Where I work, we have a Dish commercial account, and we had to switch out older receivers when we upgraded our programming package about a month ago. We had the silver VIP 211 and Dish gave us free VIP211z's with no extension of contract.

The problem with that is the previous box was owned by your employer now it is leased. And the old boxes went with the installer

I think the person you spoke to is full of crap. Call back and play csr roulette.

Nope. They require the swap.

It may not be technically required. Perhaps, they are using this as an opportunity to get the mpeg-4 gear out there. But, they do require the swap.

The swap has to do with the G4 card only in my case I have all HD VIP receivers. The manager at dish said if I could find virgin G4 cards they would convert my system. So far I have had no luck

4 of the 11 receivers I swapped were also HD/mpeg4 models. And, they said the same thing about the cards.
But, you should still own the receivers. They swapped out owned receivers. So, they should remain owned on your account. If you don't already have a MyDish login for your commercial account, you should create one. You can check on equipment status. Plus, with the new commercial programming packs, you can actually make changes online now!

If the new boxes stay as I owned them I would have no problem. My boxes don't have cards in them as well. Is their a way of knowing what they are by the number

I have a commercial Dish Account and I called Dish about 4 months wondering why I had such a hard time finding information about commercial programing packages (I wanted to make some changes). They told me I could get the standard AT packages, which is actually cheaper for me. I was also told I could get all new hardware (FREE).

New Hardware was not necessary unless I wanted the locals in HD (Which I don't really need as I have an OTA antenna for locals). but I got rid of all my NON HD hardware ( I only had one HD receiver) and got a brand new Eastern Arc Dish. Previously I had a Dish 500 (110,119) and a Dish pointed at 129 (so No HD locals for me).

The Tech came and swapped out everything except for the one 722. I now have 5 722's and a Brand New Eastern Arc Dish, and my programing bill went down 15 dollars per month. WIN, WIN, WIN.
