I currently have a Dish system with 3 receivers:
VIP 622 in living room
VIP 211K in family room
VIP 211 in master bedroom
See following current configuration:

I want to upgrade to a 2 Hopper (living room and family room), 1 Joey system (master bedroom) see following proposed configuration:

I would appreciate feedback on two areas of concern:
1. Network connectivity - I show both Hoppers connected to my hardwired local area network. Is that a correct configuration? Does the Joey need to be connected to my LAN? Do I need a Hopper Internet Connector? Are there pros/cons to either configuration?
2. SlingBox - I plan to use my existing SlingBox Solo on one of the hoppers. Will that work or do I need a Sling Adapter?

TIA for any feedback,

Bob

The joeys can connect to the Internet by sharing the Hoppers connection over The moca network so that should be no issue. No need to connect it to LAN. The sling box solo will work fine.i have both a sling adapter and sling box hd connected to my hopper and it works great.

Thanks for the response.

Any preference you have to the sling adapter or sling box hd?

Note: Only one Hopper needs the network connection. If it doesn't appear to work, verify bridging is enabled on the connected Hopper and disabled on the other one (should be the default). The purpose of the HIC is to allow connection to the network when a Hopper isn't convenient to connect directly.

Although a slingbox has a few advantages like seeing the whole interface exactly as you'd see it sitting in front of the tv, I still prefer the sling adapter for several reasons:

- Uses background tuner rather than taking over the local viewing session entirely
- Requires no IR blasters
- Doesn't take up any A/V outputs
- Requires no external power supply
- Plug-and-play, no config required
- Small and efficient
- Cheap

The dish remote access app is Free and more simple to use in my opinion. That being said,I like the sling box and app because i can order ppv and vod through the sling box within the app. Other than that,I agree with the above posts. Honestly,I like them both for different reasons and would say I use the sling adapter more often because I don't want to take over the main tv at home when I'm streaming. I could move the sling to a Joey if I wanted but I'm too lazy to do that.

rjruby: Has Dish or a local installer agreed to this type installation? Normally they push or even insist upon at least 1 Joey per Hopper.

I plan on purchasing the equipment myself and installing it.
