Friday June 3, 4:12 pm ET
Phillies Games, Primetime Series and Movies Add to Leading HDTV Lineup
As Sponsor of Phillies in HD on UPN 57, Comcast to Deliver All Remaining Home Games in High Definition

PHILADELPHIA, June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast, the nation's leading cable and broadband provider, and WPSG-TV announce the addition of UPN 57 in high definition to the area's most robust HDTV lineup. UPN HD is available immediately to Comcast customers in the Philadelphia area on channel 236 and is now one of 16 HDTV channels and seven local broadcast channels available to Comcast customers. The channel will launch in South Jersey starting June 15 and, at that time, will be available to all Comcast customers in the Philadelphia DMA.

With the addition of UPN HD, consumers will be able to experience every remaining Phillies home game with the added advantage of the highest standard in home entertainment - crystal clear HDTV with Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. "We couldn't be more thrilled to add our home, over-the-air games to the high definition lineup," said Rory McNeil, director of broadcasting, Philadelphia Phillies. "There's no better way to catch exciting Phillies game action than with the clarity of HDTV."

Comcast offers 16 channels in high definition including ESPN, Discovery, INHD, INHD2, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, Comcast SportsNet, and local broadcasters ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, WB and now UPN. Satellite does not provide any local Philadelphia broadcasts in HD.

"The addition of UPN 57 is a natural extension of our commitment to offer the most robust HDTV lineup, including local broadcasters and popular sports, movies and premium channels," said Michael Doyle, president, Comcast Eastern Division. "Through our HD programming, combined with innovative services like ON DEMAND and DVRs, we deliver the value, choice, control and diversity of programming that consumers demand and that satellite simply does not offer."

"If you've seen HD you know how spectacular the quality is," said Michael Colleran, president and general manager of CBS 3 and UPN 57. "We are pleased to be working with Comcast and the Phillies to bring the games and UPN programming to our viewers in this format."

Popular UPN primetime programs such as Girlfriends, All of Us, Cuts, Half & Half, Second Time Around, The Bad Girl's Guide, Veronica Mars and One on One, as well as a diverse weekly lineup of movies and Imax HD movies will all be presented in HDTV, all at no additional charge.

To receive HD channels, customers must own an HDTV-compatible television set. Comcast also offers HD-compatible digital video recorders (DVR), an easy and affordable way for customers to record HD programming - enabling them to watch what they want, when they want. Comcast Digital Cable customers also receive ON DEMAND and more than 250 channels, including dozens of commercial- free premium movie channels, 45 channels of commercial-free music and an interactive on-screen program guide.
