I have been using Channel Master 4228 for past 15 days and I had frequent braks in the signal. Factory assembled connections are 1 to 3 and 2 to 4. To try, I changed the connections for 1to 4 and 2 to 3. I found some improvement in the signal qualitty, though I lost one channel.

Technically, I do not know how this is affecting. I do not think that this modification is scientifically correct as company has built it per design. Any thoughts?

You don't specify how far away the stations are that you are trying to receive. If you have low SS readings try adding a pre-amp such as the CM7777.

What are you talking about?????

I have a CM4228 but I'm not near it now. I think he is talking about cross connecting the bow ties. Not sure, though. And not sure it would make any difference.

Exactly. Sorry, I could not get the right words to explain clearly. I am about 35miles away from the towers and I do not have line of sight as I am in a apartment complex. Cross connecting has made some difference for me and signal has become more stable. I was wondering how it got improved.

Beats me.

Mine is temporarily mounted on the back of a shed. It will go on a tripod raised up about 25'. I might need to add a rotor, and maybe a pre-amp. Trying to get ready for 2/17/09. This is at a remote location. Set up at home is just fine, but different antenna.

I doubt a pre-amp would help you, but maybe someone more knowledgeable than I will help out here.

if you are in apartment complex. Try to tilt your cm 4228 back and point it at the sky above the buildings in your line of site. I read some where this might help.

Help me avoid cable, please!
