I am thinking of getting a T90 dish to get some FTA channels, while at the same time putting my bell sub on there too to get max signals. I'm quite far north, Fort McMurray AB.

I am new to FTA. I ordered an SV8000HD on a friend's recommendation and have ordered the 8PSK module as well. What are the satellites with the most HD channels that I could grab while still getting 82 and 91? Ireally only care about HDTV, and SD channels I rarely watch, unless something isn't in HD that I really want to see.

Thanks, and great forums! Lots of useful info.

Outside of PBS on AMC3 (87) there isn't much "Full-Time" hd on Ku band, but there are lots of HD feeds out there for sports and such.

If I had to choose certain birds for HD feeds, I'd setup 72, 74, 79, 91 and 103. Others may add to that, but those in general are where I find the majority of my HD events.

Also, 85 and 105 are some stuff lately.

yeah, I have a bev sub, and I'm far north so the dish 500 only gives me like 40-50 Q on some TPs :( The larger dish would give me FTA and boost the Q on those at the same time.

Thanks for the sat list, I'll check lyngsat to see what I can expect and pick a few maybe.

Another topic, but I have to see if painting the T90 will be ok... condo says max 30" dish and the T90 is 36", So I want to paint it to blend in so they are less likely to say anything

The main reflector? Or the whole thing overall?

That is a little too big ;) Do you know how big the T55 is? It is advertised as 20"...

Specification
What you are seeing when it says 20" or 36" is what it claims each lnb has visibility to. The T90 performs like a 36" dish because each lnbf effectively views only 36" of the dish's surface. The dish is much larger than 36" however, and with that big 2nd reflector out front, it will look even more huge.

just the reflector is 42x40...the thing sticks out about 2 feet when all said and done

The T55 is too small for KU Band

More huge? That's not the words my wife would use. ;)

I was exceptionally lucky in that she let me get a SC 75E dish that I'm gonna stick on G10 and try for G13.

more pix = a good thing

Yes, please do, and post 'em in the Satellite Dish Farm thread.
I already PM'd somebody who said they put theirs low on the ground under a window.
Really want to see how that worked out.
I'm thinking these pictures would be a great encouragement (or not) to others. - :up

I was going to get my wife to take a pic of me with the dish but instead snuck out and stuck up a new dish next to the T90. Tucked it behind a lilac bush that hasn' t any leaves right now. It will soon. Only stuck two bolts in the mount to make it a quick move if necessary. But then it got dark. Tomorrow there'll be a picture!

Sherri hates all this. But I told her it's necessary so I can tip the 90 to get the HD stuff on the sats previously mentioned in this thread and still get G10 without a lot of fiddling and be able to spend *types while laughing* more time with her and the kids. Then I follow with "See! I'm just thinking of you when I do this! It's all for you!" :D
