Classless act or helping a booster cover the spread??!!

WHAT was the reason for kicking a field goal up by 20 points and 30 seconds left in the game??!! I can accept the fact that the Gators experience was going to win against a very young and unproven Miami Hurricanes....but to kick a field goal?

I mean Florida WAS favor by 22 1/2 points....low an behold, they with by 23 on that last second FG...!!!! hmmmmmmmmm......:rolleyes:

I THOUGHT Urban Meyer was a class act. He has NOW lowered himself to the Steve Spurriers and the Nick Sabans of the coaching classless.....:(

Maybe he had the gators in his football pool and that 1/2 point guaranteed his victory :)

Plus I'm sure that the Gators and the Hurricanes have some rivalry due to location so that is to be expected. I'd want the Panthers (or Eagles when they play Dallas next week) to completely rout the competition, even if it means a field goal when the game is over (as long as an accidental return won't result in a loss)

Sorry....to me that is classless....I have never believed in running up a score because it proves nothing and give that team something to think about the next time you play them and THEY might have better team than you do. Adding a FG to an already big lead with litterally NO TIME left in the game shows nothing but total lack of class....and KARMA will be a bitch some day.

Meyer has been running up the score on lesser teams for his entire coaching career. I've never considered him to be that much of a class act myself.

Hmmmm....I thought he was not like that.

I can't see "The Sweater Vest" doing this. A field goal? Very classless.

He did this a few times at Utah when the game was all but over. Wait until they play Georgia this year - he's still PO'd about the Dawgs getting that unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and firing them up in that game. He blames Richt and vowed to get even in his book.

I guess you could say Meyer being a total class act is just and "Urban" legend. :D

;) Point taken.....:up

Yes...a field goal with 30 seconds LEFT IN A GAME HE WAS WINNING BY 23!!!!

Revenge is a bitch.....

Cya in 2013.

Losers whine about running up the score. Sorry the double L can't recruit or coach like the U of F.

I love Urban, he made Miami and Florida State irrelevant.

Here is what class is WINNING!

Considering the coach of your NFL team, I am not surprised. Urban Myer has done NOTHING to Miami OR Florida States program. Last I saw, just about EVERY major publication ranked Miami's recruiting class #1. Not Florida's....

Randy Shannon said it best during his press conference:

"People ALWAYS find a way to expose who they really are......that FG will do WONDERS for Miami's recruiting within the state.......";)

Really?

Only ESPN 150 had Miami #1

Randy Shannon is a whining loser, but he is right, I would of rather had the TD should of gone for it on 4th
.

Let me go check where Miami and FSU are ranked

I don't care much about college, and rarely watch it, but they explained during the game why they kicked it. It was something to the effect of 'some voters don't see the games and will now see this as an xx point victory instead of it looking closer than it was on paper'.

Plus, doesn't the strength of the victory weigh into standings or something?

Let's see...here's one:

ESPN - Miami claims top 2008 recruiting class - Football Recruiting

This one does not have Miami #1, but it DOES have it better than Florida's.

Here is another, MAYBE not #1, but damn well better than Florida's....

Scout.com: Football Recruiting

And yet another one...may not be #1...but Florida is not even in their top 10:

Here is another that does not have Florida in the top 10....

So, you have ONE site that rates Florida above Miami and I have SEVERAL that rates Miami above Florida with a few not even ranking Florida in the top ten. Most of mine rank Miami's recruiting class in the top 5.

Need I find more....?

SUPPOSEDLY, that was no longer the judgement. IF it was, there would be way more cream puffs on big schools schedules than their own conference rivals.

I thought it was an element of it, but it was also weighed against the strength of the team you are playing, ie an unranked team blowing out a ranked team would be much bigger than USC coming to UNLV and beating them 125-2 (snapper so tired he launches it sideways and out the back of the endzone).

Who knows though, with this cryptic BCS stuff. Im pretty ignorant of most things NCAA Football outside of playing it on the 360 and catching the occasional UNLV or overhyped ranked matchup on TV.

Than why were Florida's freshman on defense able treat Miami like a stepchild on Saturday. These services rate quantity over quality, watching that game you can see that is not the case.
Florida's Talent level is so far above Miami and it keeps growing.

Can't wait until we get to slap around Jimbo Fisher next year, he and Shannon are out of their league compared to Urban.

You think you are a know it all

LMAO....A jackass huh? SO, if you are saying that these services don't mean anything, that puts the LONE service YOU MENTIONED sort of usesless too huh? So you have no pot to piss in nor leg to stand on.....and proved wrong by calling me a "jackass".....:haha:haha:haha

IF you know ANYTHING about recuiting of ANY KIND, they rate by QUALITY, not quantity.....

But, you KNEW that didn't you.....;)
