Okay, so on Sunday I attended my first game at the new Mets ballpark, Citi Field.

I will upload pics by next weekend, but in the meantime here are some of my opinions:

1. Most seats are great because you feel as if your on the field and up close with all of the action. I say most seats ebcause there have been complaints about the upper deck, but hey, you get what you pay for (my seats are $90/seat)

2. The Ceasar's Club, which is what ticket holders in my seats are allowed in to, is incredible; plush leather seats, tables, an incredible huge bar (mixed drinks were $8.50, but did have plenty of alcohol in them), waiter/waitress service, service at the condiment bar, etc.

3. I dislike that the outfield wall is black with an orange stripe for homeruns, but I understand the reason behind it.

4. I love that there is a bridge in right center, but I dislike the fact that it is completely black with no color nor any name. If I could set up a poll here, I would love to get ideas as to what people think they should call the bridge. My suggestions are: 1. Seaver Way; 2. Kranepool's Bridge; 3.Swoboda's Walkway; and 4. The Miracle Bridge

5. It is great to be able to walk around the whole park and always have a view of the field.

6. The food is incredible . . . even more incredible, prices have yet to increase from last year and in some instances, prices have dropped.

7. Having a Mets store in CitiField is great; overcharging is absurd (i.e. a Mets sweatshirt was $125; Brooklyn Dodger's Robinson jersey was $230, etc.)

8. The Fan Center beyond the center field wall for families with the huge video screen showing the game is a great touch.

9. Attention to details were great; for example, the wrought iron gates with the Mets insignia is a nice touch.

10. Annoying is that the grounds crew and security are dressed in red jackets/shirts that are reminiscent of Phillie's red . . . why???? Put them in in the good old Orange and Blue!

11. Robinson Rotunda gives you goosebumps with each step you take; the life size pictures, the video highlights, his footsteps, his number, his virtues, all of it makes you stand in awe and truly shows how Robinson transcended the racial lines, society, family, baseball, etc.

That's about everything. I will upload pics later this week when I convert them. In the meantime, here is a quick minute video of the Ceasar's Club I was talking about; sorry if it is grainy or shaky, I took it from my TouchPro.

WOW! Excellent review and thanks for all the information. I have to tell you, Sunday I had the Yankees game on one TV and the Mets on the other just to compare the two stadiums. Citi looks better all the way around. It is more for the "common fan". It just looks so earthy...plain yet stylish in it's own way. The new Yankee Stadium seems too gawdy and just speaks of all of the excesses and "in your face" that we have come to know and despise as anything Yankees. They do it cause they can and too bad for you cause you can't.

Right now, I like all the plain and "blank" areas I've seen on TV. It surely doesn't look cluttered or over-done at all.

You should be extremely proud of your new home. Can't wait to see the pictures.

P.S. Naming that bridge is tough...who is the ONE most important Met ever?

I'm thinking Mets history with something off of the ground for the name of that bridge...

"Buckner's glove" ?

:)

Thanks Halo . . . my overall problem with Yankees stadium, from what I can see, is that it is just a re-creation of the old stadium; nothing new

Does the place feel small? Was surprised that the seating capacity is now below Wrigley Field.

Good question . . . no!

Even though it is 10,000 less seats, it is intimate and you feel as if you're part of the game. Sitting there and seeing seats practically wrap around the whole stadium, unlike Shea did, makes it feel larger. I also think with the openness as you walk around makes you feel that it is large!

I want to go to this stadium really badly. I saw pictures of it on flickr, wikipedia, and the opening game, and it just looks so nice. Yankee Stadium looks a bit bland for me.

Cjwct, the place looks amazing!!! I have heard that there are problems with the stadium. The 2, Ive noticed the most is, there are obstructed seats and there's not enough Mets stuff. The seats are not orange and blue, the ushers are not in orange and blue and it looks more like Ebbets Field and has more of a tribute to the Brooklyn Dodgers than the New York Mets.

Oh, one more thing, Cjwct, take a look at this article. What do you think? [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4084962"]Mike Fish: Lenny Dykstra's dream of high life and finance takes faith tough as 'Nails' - ESPN[/ame]
