Here
I got to see Marty Brenneman, Chris Welsh, Lee May(Reds great from years past), Brandon Phillips, some player they drafted last year and some execs.

They were all nice and we stood in line for over 3 hours and they sat there signing until every last person went through the line, or at least I think they did since I wasn't last in line.

I know there are some other Reds fans here and they have at least 3 different caravans going with different players and announcers so look for them to come to your area if you live in KY, WV, TN, OH, or IN.

too bad they don't come to florida. and, yes, ramy, i remember lee may. i met jack billingham a number of years ago at a sports card show. don't know if he still lives in central florida but he did at that time!

Now THAT'S baseball! Waiting all that time (and among throngs) to celebrate a seemingly going-nowhere (NO OFFENSE MEANT!!!!) baseball team with hope springing eternal that maybe...just maybe 2009 will be your team's year.

As an ol' baseball rat, my heart is all swollen with pride in the game. Thanks for sharing.:up

How much are they charging for an autograph?

HD, I can't answer for the Reds. However, the Dodgers Caravans historically have not charged for any signings. The Angels don't have a caravan but they do have a "Welcome Fans" weekend @ Angel Stadium each year. I believe there is a nominal admission fee but no fan pays for any coach/player signings.

It didn't cost any money at all to go to it or for them to sign autographs. :D

I have been to every Reds caravan that has come to Indianapolis since 1980!!!...

I used to work with Marty when he did the Indiana Pacers games on TV back in the early 80's, and he has remembered me every year!!!...He can be a curmugeon sometimes, but is one of the most professional broadcasters I have met and worked with!!!...:hatsoff:

They have never charged for the autograph sessions they hold. It is one of the main points of the caravan!!!...:up

Too bad DC isn't on the list or I would go. :) I saw Lee May many years ago at a minor league park in Johnson City Tn. He and his wife had came to their son play. They sat down across the aisle from me and my two nephews who I had taken to the game. They had broght along a baseball hoping to get some autographs from some of the minor leaguers. When I saw May come in I instantly recognized him and told my nephews to ask him for his autograph. He was very gracious and I thanked him. He seemed liked a good person and took time for my nephews.
I also saw Marty at RFK a couple of years back. I would sit behind where the announcers would go in and out of their booths. He came out before the game and he saw me with my Reds cap on and waved at me. He asked me if I lived in the area and if I had came to any of the other games in the series. He seemed very nice too even though I know he can be a pain at times.

The Pirates have a caravan also, but this weekend they are having Pirate fest at the convention center in town.

They do this every year, but I never have time to go.

Most of the regional market teams do this. The Reds are the quintisential regional market team, as the Cincy DMA is smaller than many non-major cities. It supports baseball by making the Reds the team of many other markets from Indiana to West Virginia.

The team forgot that for many years under previous ownership. And thus was hurt more than any other team by the Braves TV theft. It is good to see them move forward to reclaim their natural market.

Thanks Ramy....being that I still love the REDS...that was nice to hear. Did you hear where the Reds stated because of the economy, the team will NOT be making any more additions to the team?

Yes, I saw that. I don't know if they have enough scoring type players to score many runs. Hopefully the starting pitching can all come together as one and win a lot of games.

It will be a fight between the Pirates and Reds for last place.:(
