Ciel 2 Tracking

Everyone has to remember that Charlie is not the only testing this Sat.. Bell is also testing this sat. and maybe the 2 sides can't agree on something causing a delay in completing testing.

Why would Bell be involved in testing this satellite. They have not leased any of it from Ciel. Now Ciel may want to make sure their satellite is working properly.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll all breathe a sigh of relief after Ciel 2 is on station and in service. Then some of us will have to find another "the sky is falling" story.

Neither Dish Network nor Bell is testing the satellite. Neither own the satellite, and Bell is not going to use it at all.

The satellite is being tested by SES Americom and Ciel.

I know it's just tables, not real signals. But WOW! Lots of LIL spots assigned and...wait for it...TWENTY EIGHT new TMP HD channels! (Actually, three of them are on 110). And they all have EA counterparts this time, unlike the 7 sitting at 110. But we could be talking up to 35 if they get them mirrored

Some of the LIL spots say "UP"...I assume these are new ones.

EDIT- I take that back... 3 of them do not have EA counterparts (but it's not the 3 that are at 110). Basically, 25 new HDs to EA, 25 to 129, 3 to 110.

They are always moving. They slowly drift out of the assigned orbital location and then fire thrusters to move back into location on a regular schedule. Each satellite has an assigned box to stay in and they drift around in that box and are pushed back into position via thrusters.

This is why E5 is in such trouble. E5 has broken momentum wheels, so they are also using thrusters to keep it pointed at the earth. This is using up all the thruster fuel that would normally keep it in its orbital box. The satellite will have to be retired early because it will run out of fuel and will not be able to stay on station.
 
According to a superior DISH tech in the Seattle area the current footprint of the 129 cuts off at Arlington...about 30 mi. N of Seattle.
Well, it doesn't "cut off", it is usable north of there (my neighbors in Mt. Vernon, Sedro Wooley and north get it. I'm on the same latitude as Seattle, and it's just a little less crappy here :confused:.

Not to mention I bet they are letting it "float" a good bit since no customers are using it at 138.

It had been floating in 4-6 km altitude band and slipping slightly east. Then they must have given it a little bump 3-4 days ago and the range jumped to 10 km with the increase on the high side. That started it floating a bit more west.

Fitzie had found the testing completion (operational) date in the Schedule S listed as Jan 10 and with full completion on Jan 31. If you add the launch delay, they should be moving it any day now.
 
Guys, help a neophyte understand a few things. I have been having problems with 129 for the last 6 months. They replaced the cable run and I have been fine for the last 3 months. Starting yesterday it has been searching for signal on 129 and now shows red when testing 110.

Is the 129 part of the issue here and should I hang on until the end of the month. I don't want to switch to D* over this but am tired of all the issues.
