Chrome (the browser) is certainly living in the fast lane, having made it to version 10 (beta so far) in under 2.5 years. And it's certainly not the end of it. Since it is slowly becoming an OS rather than just a browser (even when running on computers; see this, for example) this looks like an interesting approach to maximize real estate:
