Has most of everyone gotten away from the ATSC generation chipset crap? (LG only) its now is the receiver chip A/74 compiant!

I never bought into it to begin with. As far as I could tell, each time a manufacturer released a newer chip that it subjectively determined to be better than anything already out there, the industry called it the next "generation", but since it did not include each and every signal discrimination technology of previous chips, I didn't see it as a successive generation.

What does it take for a chip to be A/74 compliant?

When ATI released the Xilleon 240 chip people were calling it a 6th generation chipset.
I have tried to explain to them that the ATI Xilleon 240 chip is a first generation for that series!
You can find A/74 info here: ATSC Recommended Practices < link
If I read of the "white papers" correctly the main problem is "zero dB echoes" now called "multiple echoes"
"multiple echoes" atsc - Google Search < info link
