I have an unused chimney on my 1 story house, and it seems to my eye to provide the best place to install a dish. Is this a good idea, and how frequently is this done?

I'm assuming that I would use steel strapping to attach the dish to the chimney, so does anyone know where the best place to get something like that is?

Thanks!

I think Rat Shack has chimney mounts.

We've got an antenna mounted to the chimney at our lake house...huge antenna. Held up for 3 years :)

If you have line of sight any where else on your house or even anywhere else on the property I would consider another location. Just a personal preference, but if you should ever need to service the dish it would be easier to access then on the chimney. Not sure where you live, but here in Nebraska I sure would.nt like the idea of climbing on a roof in the middle of winter with ice and snow to service the dish. Maybe a pole mount??
