Hi, first post here and I got a question. I just got Dish Network yesterday and my local channels don't update. I work graveyard and I'm not awake for primetime shows, so I wanted to set the DVR up to record the shows I want, but after about an hour of listed programming on the program guide, it just says 'no info available' it does not do this on the non-local channels. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Satellite Guys siasmaster. 
It can take up to 24 hours from activation for the local channel information to fully update. Be sure to power the unit off via the remote when not in use.

Why do you have to power off the unit? Doesn't it get the updates anyway? I have a 942 and I never turn it off, but it always has guide data.

The poster didn't didn't specify which model DVR he had. E* Single tuner DVRs must be put in standby for the guide to automatically update, so better safe then sorry.
