I have to give kudos once again to Channelmaster. I hadn't used it in a long time but my Coolsat box has been doing some wacky things (one of which is rebooting just because) so I figured lets nuke some TP's
Now since the Coolsat nukes the channels associated with a TP, its tough to remember what TP's are legit and which are bunk. Throw in the fact I just added a DBS LNB and added a few satellites into the list, I wanted it a little more organized.
So I opened it up and sucked the info from the receiver. Here is where the fun began. I was able to sort the satellite list from E to W with ease. I went through each satellite and nuked every transponder that didnt have a channel associated with it (couple satellites have no FTA right now so I left one TP there).
Went through and labelled all those DBS channels that say "TV XXX 12345 H Echostar 7" to a little better name (NASA, Gol) and sorted them agina from east to west
downloaded it back into the unit and away we went.
Total time: less than 1/2 hour
Fingers saved from not having to name them via the remote: a lot
If you haven't tried Channelmaster yet, you should. It makes it much easier and the newest version supports a lot of different boxes
