Channel 96

Hi There -

Quick question - I recently upgraded to HD, and I have been told that by local FSN (Bay Area) games would be on channel 96. But every time I go there I get a "Channel Not Available" message.

I live in a building with a 3LNB dish - could that be the reason?

Yes, you need the AT-9 (5 LNB) dish for the mpeg-4 HD locals and HD RSN.

Channel 96 is turned on for certain games and for certain people. For instance, when the Brewers are in HD, that game only will be available to Milwaukee customers on 96 only.



Then why was I able to get the Brewers in HD with the 3LNB Dish?

You must have been watching on channel 95, which is the CONUS feed in mpeg2. Channel 96 is on a spot beam, and is mpeg4. The 3 lnb dish cannot get channel 96, it is just not possible. Channel 96 is a ka channel. The 3 lnb dish does not have a ka lnb.
