Cell Phone Car Amps ?

Because of what I do for a living I find myself sometimes in the middle of no where needing to make phone calls but have no connection to a cell tower. Anyone have any experience using an amplifier designed for a car that boosts rf to 3 watts with no hard wire connection to the phone? There are a few on the market but could not find any reviews.

I used to use them for years. But, now it is probably a lot harder, phones tend not to have the external antenna connection any more. Mine were the type where you put the phone in a cradle and used a speakerphone. They worked great in remote areas.

i've never personally used on, although I am considering it.

on this show they tested the Wilson brand and it took a cell phone from 1 bar to full signal with a 3watt antenna.

That one had to be placed in a cradle, thus hard wired. Thanx though.

It's really the best way when in a car. The car doesn't offer much repeater to antenna isolation like a house does.
