China Central Television (CCTV) will stop broadcasting programs via satellite Galaxy-3C from January 1st, 2008. Audiences in North America cannot receive CCTV's programs through Galaxy-3C from then on.

Instead, audiences in North America can receive CCTV's programs through ECHOSTAR SATELLITE L.L.C.DISH Network platform in the United States or ROGERS CABLE COMMUNICATIONS in Canada respectively.
CCTV International

bummer...I liked CCTV9. Gave me another news option

The channel is not scrambled, it is Listed on TheList and Lyngsat.

I checked the channel, currently the news broadcast is in Chinese, so I am not sure if it is ever in English, I will have to check again later.

EDIT - It is showing the same program as the other CCTV4 on 95.0°W, both are in Chinese right now.

I send a protect email to CCTV and tell them we will turn our dish to some other satellite to get the free programs and suggested they shut down the L.A. office because they don't need a office here any more.

CCTV 9 I get the Biz china show as part of the azt tv channel on cable...I think I know why they just ended this...

CCTV is going to be the exclusive producer of content for the olympics next year. They probably signed a contract with rodgers and the satellite co's to make some more money on the side.

There are somewhere bewteen 10 and 24 different CCTV channels produced in China. Only a couple are English speaking (CCTV 9 and CCTV E&F (English and French). It would appear the English channels will be in shorter supply via FTA next year. The CCTV 4 reference above I believe is only a native language channel.

At the moment, the Great Wall package from DiSH Network carries all the regional/provincial channels.

CCTV E&F is actually Espanol and French. There is no English on that channel.
CCTV 9 is English as you said.

I might suspect that CCTV and the provincial channels are not going to give you live Olympics in any shape or form.

The CCTV change you're seeing is probably just routine.

.

Looks like there is a little more time to enjoy CCTV on G3 - stopping on April 1, rather than Jan. 1:

"China Central Television (CCTV) will stop broadcasting programs via satellite Galaxy-3C from April 1st, 2008. Audiences in North America cannot receive CCTV's programs through Galaxy-3C from then on. "

CCTV International

Hmmm.... It looks like they're doing this just in time for.... the Beijing Olympics!
$$$ talks :) Especially Echostar's $$$.

Can be found on IntelSat 9 58W C-Band.

That's what I like about this hobby. If a channel stops at one place, it usually pops up in another. :)

Hey Fred, did you ever do a full FTA and scrambled search on that bird? talk about alot of stuff. I have some stuff saved but rarely go there. There's some DCII stuff up there also.

I haven't ever done a full scan on that satellite, but am going to get around to doing that shortly.

I have moved the 4DTV to that position, and yes there is some DCII stuff there. :)

There are a lot of channels on the Eastern C-Band side of the arc. Some even in English. :D
