Can't use EHD anymore

I am in my RV and cannot lock on a Dish satellite where I am and I can't relocate for about a week.
For the past couple nights I have attempted to use the EHD to watch some recorded movies, I get a message that said I have to call in to get my EHD authorized (or whatever it is called). I have been using it trouble free for 6 months, I called the phone # on that message and they confirmed it has been set up properly.The lady suggested calling a local Dish installer, I doubt any installer will make a special trip for no pay and I can't afford to pay. I admit my memory is bad but I feel confident that I had it working from this location 4 nights ago with no satellite lock.
Please confirm that it is possible to utilize the EHD when not locked on a satellite so I will think my ancient memory is still reasonably good. Yes, I realize I can't record programs without a satellite lock.

Not sure but I think your receiver needs periodic re-authorization "hits". It probably exceeded some timer we don't know about, and needs to "see" the satellite again before it figures out you really are authorized to use your EHD.

Yes the receiver must have a satellite feed for the EHD to work. When i was working on installing my new dish i took a break and wanted to watch a recorded show and it would not work. As soon as i had a signal it worked. i am not sure what receive you have but the one I tried was my 211K with the EHD DVR function. I think a tech told me it must have a signal for the hit to show up when powered up. Did not get a chance to try 722.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll have to wait a week or so until I get in an area where I can lock on to the satellite, however, before my next trip I will transfer a bunch of movies off the EHD to the 622 DVR receiver.
I might even drop a bunch of the movies to DVD's, life is boring with no satellite lock, and even more boring when I can't record current events.
We only get 2 OTA channels where we are, I am so tired of commercials I only watch the news.

You must have the prime spot in the RV campground!

See if you can borrow someone else's vehicle and take your sat, receiver and EHD to the nearest spot where you can get a signal - then transfer your programs and drive back.

I saw this thread and it got me wondering. I was planning on getting a 922 when they came out to replace my 722 that I own. I was just going to put it in a back room and watch the stuff I have on it. Will the EHD work if it is connected to the sat but not activated? I don't think it will work , but does anybody know for sure ?
