After a frustrating 1/2 hour on the phone with Directv Customer Service, I still don't have an explanation for this: We were not home last night and our DVRs (bedroom AND family room) were scheduled to record the 7:00 and 8:00 episodes of Lost as well as the 7:30 episode of The Office. There were no conflicts and both were high priority. The lists (on both DVRs) show that we have all 3 episodes. The Office can be viewed with no problem. When we click on the Lost episodes they show a description, recording time, etc. but when we click 'play' we only have a black screen with a time bar across the bottom. The play arrow is there but everything is stuck. To press 'play' or 'fast forward' results in the error tone. We reset (with button on front-both machines) and that didn't help. Customer Service said that we needed a hard reset on both because it had to be a box problem (both machines had the same problem, same night, same show, by fluke?) She said that is the only deduction since the satellite dish worked for The Office and it wasn't a network problem. The hard reset would empty both lists. I didn't do it. This morning I have recorded 2 shows at the same time on both boxes with no trouble. We are worried about the Super Bowl as we won't be home and have to record it. Any ideas?

Are you by chance on the CE software? This same problem was explained in regards to someone using the CE software this week.

I'm not quite sure what that is... when we ordered the Directv dvr they came to our house and installed it. Could you paste the link to that other problem onto this thread for me to check out?:hatsoff:

It would help us to help you if we knew what model D* receivers you have and what make & model TV you have. Assume they're a DVR since your talking about playing back programs.

Make sure that the output settings on your D* boxes are set to output the signal at 480P, 720P and 1080I. Those setting should match whatever the native resolution is on your TV.

If your TV is non-hd, the output settings should be at 480I.

It's highly unlikely that both boxes would go bad at once.

Good luck, missing a program like Lost can be a real bummer!

I'm on my 3rd HR20 in 4 months. What a great receiver. And to think I gave up my HR10-250 for this. Sheesh! Directv needs to end this crap and make nice with Tivo to bring back quality receivers. S3 would be a Godsend.

And I'd like to be 23 years old again, 6'3" and look like Tom Selleck.

Guess what--none of what I want OR what you want is going to happen.

Exactly what went wrong with your first 2 HR20s?
