hey guys im trying to take a peek at a few transponders off of echo 5 at 129 but i cant get a lock on to them..
the one pitcular tp of intrest is 12.399 r sr 21500 fec 7/8 any idea why i cant lock on to those tp... and I cant find anywhere in my dvb programs to change the fec to try and get a lock I have a twinihan dvbs any help is apprecated

You can't do that with any DVB card currently on the market.

Ya I seem to recall that the cheapest 8sp decoder was around 2000 clams. Not really worth it. The only fta I can think of off hand are the 8spk CBC off of anik and the few off of either amc 1 or 4, can't remember which (both nbc). anyways, sorry.

I am unfamilear with the term, but it sounds like high-bitrate QPSK signals, like 35+ Msps.. the decoders in most DVB cards now a days can handle up to 45Msps QPSK carriers

EDIT: nevermind, it looks to be a type of FEC.. I would have to say that it is not supported by any current commercial device

It is a type of Video compression and encoding based on MPEG2, there are four flavors of DVB, they are DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T, and DVB-ASI. they are DVB-Satellite, DVB-Cable, DVB-Terrestral (Over the air), and DVB-Asynchronus Serial Interface (used as backend transport for Digital video in professional equipment), respectively.

I think what he means is if you search ebay for that, you'll come up with a device that decodes 8psk. However its a 1U rack mount device, and the output is dvb asi (async serial interface). I looked into it, and you'd have to buy a PCI interface card to get that asi signal into your computer. Then still, I have no clue how to get a DVB program to decode the signal coming off that ASI interface.

If it was like $20 I'd try it out, but I dont have $100s to spend on stuff that has a 5% chance of working :)

Good find though!!
