cant autodetect?!

I just got my coolsat5000, hooked up the cable to the reciever and computer, turned the power on, opened the proloader and hit autodetect, however it wont detect anything, i keep getting "connect your receiever and turn it on". I tried another cable and i still get the same thing. I cannt flash my reciever because of this, anyone know what might be the problem?
