Canadian fed up with StarChoice

My StarChoice system is going to be 6 years old in July and instead of replacing it I'm think of getting a DirecTV or DishNetwork.How do I get the system since there "banned" in Canada? I'd rather not use a broker so can I just pay with my credit card? Any more info that I need?

Sucks to be Canadian. I can only use FTA for now, but looking for brokerage information on subbing to dish. Hopefully, I can find a friend to help me out.

When they switch to MPEG-4 is the reciever swap an optional thing or is it necessary to still recieve service?
