I just had 2 hoppers and 2 joeys installed. I tried using the joey on an old SD TV and the guide was barely readable, so I moved that TV into my basement bedroom. We sometimes have guests and would like to setup that old SD TV (video, RF and composite connections only) to read off the hopper in the basement. I don't want to pay the extra $7/month for a joey since it's used so infrequently.

I read in the forum that you cannot use a ViP receiver once you've setup a hopper/joey. But I have an old dish receiver (3700 or 4000, no DVR). I own it outright but dish support told me I have to setup a totally new account to have that equipment activated. Is this true?

yes

Its Hopper/Joey setup or "everything else"...they cannot be combined

3700? 4000? Not long for this world, as 8PSK and then MPEG-4 move in.

Don't you just love acronyms?

How can I extend the distance for the remote on a Joey?
