Can you get international channels?

My in-laws are both Polish I've already heard every joke and are looking to get some Polish programming. They currently have D* and would like to keep it however D* does not offer any Polish stations. Is it possible to pick them up with FTA? They also are interested in Russian channels as well. What would be the cost involved with something like that and is it similar to installing D*?

I believe dishnetwork offers polish and russian programming.

There really isnt much programming that are POlish & Russian on FTA. The stuff on T5 is scrambled (Globecast)

Dish Network might be an option...otherwise check out Globecast.

The only Polish programming I know is "TV TRWAM" on AMC 4 at (101 W--same spot as a D* uses ). It seems to be very much a religious channel. Just about every time I've flipped by there it's had Pope John Paul II on the screen seated in front of many people.

Also on the same transponder is Radio Maryja (audio only).

I don't think there are any Russian FTA channels available in the US.

Polish Radio 1 and 2 is on Sat Mex 5, frequency 12080. My neighbor is Polish and he enjoys coming over and listening. It is listed on radio channels on the 3618.
