Can you add external HD with HR20-700?

If so can I transfer the movies that I already recorded to the external from my receiver? And does this process take a long time?
And is there a fee to activate the port or something or any type of fees to use this feature?
If the answer were to yes if you can use an external HDD, what kind of external HDD would you recommend?

While I believe you can replace your internal drive with an external drive, you cannot add it to it, only Dish provides that feature.

Eventually.
However, I do not think you can transfer from one drive to another, perticularly with out loosing your format, it would come to you in SD.

It disables the internal when you connect the external an dpower up. The one PITA is that the series links are stored on the drive, so when you connect the external you must redo all of them.

Im using the 750gig drive and it gives me near 100 hours of OTA HD recording and more than 100 hours of Mpeg4 HD recording. Very happy.
