According to the graphics here DISH Network - 2009 Updates - 1.888.825.2557 the DVR Advantage costs $10 more than the same base package. Classic 200 47.99, Classic 200 DVR Advantage 57.99. It also appears that it now covers multiple DVR receivers but doesn't appear to say exactly how much of the DVR fee(s) are covered.

Since I have only one DVR, it appears it would be to my advantage to drop the DVR Advantage. Am I reading that right?

OOPS, I just noticed, DVR advantage also includes the locals so the difference is really only $5 so I save 0.98 in that scenario.

This language appears to cover more than one DVR fee:
New for 2009 - Save up to $12.00 a year or more on each DVR receiver - the more you have, the more you will save!

OMG! Very interesting find! Also says no more additional tuner fee for first dual tuner box not connected to a phone line or internet.:up

I have a late billing cycle so I can't see my new bill yet. But when I do, I'm not going to complain if my DVR Advantage goes up $8 if in fact it covers my 625 as well as my 722. I'd even spring for a 612 (or two) rather than the 211's I am currently planning.

Edit: Woopsie. I'd have to spring for a DPP33 as well, since my homebrew DPP32 obviously can't feed 3 dual-tuner receivers.

The DDA package savings went from $5.98 to $.98. But it now waives one 2nd tuner fee,(program access fee), off the account... so customers without a phone line may not notice a difference. Also there is no longer a DDA cost savings on multiple premiums beyond the standard (previously, two premiums under DDA would be $20 instead of $22).

Also if you look on that page and click DishDVR Advantage TurboHD Programming Packages it says that all the viacom channels aren't coming till spring 2009. So it sounds like we might not get them till next month.:(

I think the saving comes from the second receiver. Right now I get the first for free and I pay 10.98 for the second ( total equipment fee of 5 plus 5.98 for dvr fee) If I read correctly the first is still free the second will go to a flat 10.00 saving me .98 cents. I do not figure how this could add up to 12.00 total for anyone though. right now i figure my bill goes up $7.02 .... I hope this is true.

I linked in the graphic on the page listed in Pepper's OP:

It sure does look like we pay only one fee for all DVRs.

"Save up to $12.00 a year " Well it says up to $12.00 a year. So .98 cents per month is close to the $12.00.

it BOLDLY proclaims NO PRICE CHANGE yet my Silver 200 is going up $8!!
No kidding! And I don't see how $0.98 X 12 months = $70 either. (Furious scribbling) Well, obviously $6 X 12 months is $72, so... If Dish is now charging only one DVR fee per account, but still charging for additional receivers, then that would be (for a 2nd HD DVR) a $72 savings.

So I changed to the DVR Advantage several months in order to save money going paperless, etc. I never noticed a decrease in my bill because apparently I had the 250 package with HD, and DVR Advantage was for 100 and 200 only. So they changed the wording on my bill and I never really knew what I had. But now I discover DN put me into the Gold 250 with locals, Gold HD and Platinum HD package. I only have the Vip 622. I don't need the Platinum HD package. So which plan should I go to in order to get my costs down? We would like to keep Nat. Geo. And did I read something about a AAA discount? I pay over $90/month before this price increase.

I just spent the last ~1 hr in a live chat session with two Dish CSRs. We were cordial throughout, and I thanked them for their time. But I sure as heck didn't get the answers I was hoping for.

The savings of "over $70/yr" is calculated from your 1st DVR. Since it's the 1st receiver on your account, you don't pay the $5.98 DVR fee. $5.98 X 12 = $71.76/yr. That is no change over last year's DDA price break.

The blurb about saving more with more DVR receivers on the account gets calculated like this. Old plan prices for HD DVR $7 lease + $5.98 DVR fee = $12.98. New plan prices are combined into one $12 fee for both, for a whopping savings of $0.98/month. $0.98 X 12 = $11.76/yr/receiver. It's not much, but it does increase with more DVR receivers.

$12 a month for another DVR on my account just isn't worth it to me. I don't watch that much TV.

I have (what started out as) the AT250 with HD and 2 premium channels. My bill is now $101.46. I think I still have DHPP on there as we'll be moving shortly, but ..... that's 5.99 of this total.

They keep changing the way my bill details get listed. Last month is was:

I think I'm gonna have to change something. Over $100 a month for TV is getting to be a bit much.

Yes, I am going to have to change some things too........Can someone answer if I am being over charged. I have 2 722's

My bill says dvr advantage - save 5.98
the 2nd line charges me 5.98 for dvr advantage
3rd line 7.00 leased receiver fee
then on down it says 5 premiums - HBO, Starz, HD Gold, HD Platinum & was told the 5th premium charge for for dvr advantage package.

All of this was the old pricing...........Somehow, I think I am being taken

Just looked at my new bill online.....

Old
49.99 - DishDVR Advantage
07.00 - Leased Receiver
40.00 - DishHD with 2 premium
96.99 - Total before taxes
101.94 - Total with taxes

New
57.99 - DishDVR Classic 200
40.00 - 4 premium package
07.00 - HD Solo receiver
104.99 - Total before taxes and credit
-3.00 - DishDVR Credit
101.99 - Total after credit
107.30 - Total with taxes and credit

So as it has been said.....
Mine went up $5 now(96.99 to 101.99)
But after the 1 year of credit it will be $8 (96.99 to 104.99)
