Can internet be used instead of a phone line?

I would like to get rid of my land line but have 2 DVRs that use it one of the DVRs have a jack for CAT the other does not (625).

The one with the Cat can, just hook up an ethernet cable to your network, if you have one.

Ethernet can only be used in place of the phone on 622 and 722 receivers as far as I know.

There is no monthly fee for not having your 625 connected to a phone line.

It is a dual tuner DRV - there is a $5 monthly fee waived if it is connected to a phone line.

If it is not connected you pay the $5.

The only dual tuner receiver I know that does not have a fee is the 721.

Other than that ALL DUAL TUNER RECEIVERS have a $5 fee.

That $5 fee is waived if the receiver "phones home" at least once a month.

SOME 622 and 722 receivers (the ones that have the new VOD feature - all 622/722 will have it eventually) can now use an internet network connection instead of a phone line.

It is a total fiasco on my VIP622. Or more like a catdog

HDPPV movies can be ordered via ethernet.

OnDemmand movies CANNOT be ordered via ethernet.

The monthly nonconnection fee still applies if you are only
connected via ethernet.
