Hi all!

I have an old Directv Phase III (3-Lnb) dish just laying around in my garage. I was wondering if I could use it along with a DP301 to get Echostar 148°W.

Thanks Iceberg!!!

Thanks Iceberg!!!

I knew you would know the answer.

Cheers!

what? who'd do dat?

Well . . . now . . . lest we leave folks thinking they can add 148º to their list of birds with a Phase III . . .

If you only wanted 61º or 148º (why would anyone want either these days?) then sure.
Probably with any (even old) Dish receiver.
But if you wanted to add either to an existing system, then the answer is only maybe.

My existing Dish LNBs are DishPro, as is my DP34 switch.
I cannot add 148º with a Phase III.
If your existing system is Legacy, and you provide the proper Legacy switch, then yes.

The 301 can work with either Legacy or DishPro LNB/Switches, and so can all other modern Dish receivers.
But, not all old receivers can handle DishPro.
( . . . which probably doesn't matter for this discussion . . . ) -
