Can I copy programs from internal HR21 HDD to new ESATA HDD?

Can you not even mirror the old drive with the new one via your PC?

You could, in theory, save a bitwise copy of the drive. This would do you absolutely no good in actually playing the content back and would only serve as a backup. This would have to be done while the DVR was powered down and would be at your own risk.

I thought I saw a post of Jason making a copy of his programs and restoring to a drive. Maybe i'm mistaken.

I think it's out there, but you have to be very very careful. And the copy only works for that DVR or as a backup. You can't move the content to another DVR or play it on a laptop.

Good point to clarify.

It is only good to copy the data to a larger drive and let you keep your recordings when upgrading to a larger drive (esata).
