I have read, in several places, that the DSR 530 was not worth the $600 CAD at all!!!

Has anyone had good luck with that receiver? I do not mind bugs that can be easily fixed; I have an EV 5900 and have to reboot it once about every 3 days to reset the guide and to reset the search feature.

I'm planning on getting HD soon and was considering going from EV to *C. I understand that, for standard non-PVR receivers, that *C has a lower compression rate. The DSR530 has the same recording time, but a smaller hard drive than the EV 9200...Does this mean that EV would have a better picture when it comes to the HD PVR?

Thanks!!!

PQ is not an issue with the DSR530 (It has the same chipset as the DSR 505 and that the Voom DSR550 has).. The issues are all software related with Motorola being dreadfully slow at providing updates.

Some believe that SC is keeping the 530 price high to dissaude buyers at this time. After all the 530 (@ $699cdn) is just a 505 (@ $199 cdn) with 1 more tuner and a harddrive.
