caller id requirement

Is caller id really required for the 622 and the 211, as noted in their decriptions, or is simply keeping the receivers connected to the phone line enough?

Obviuously, I do not at present have caller id.

you need to subscribe to it via the phone company

caller id service from the phone company is required IF you want to see caller id popups on the TV when the phone rings. If you don't care about that feature, then no it's not required.

Actually, caller id on the TV is one thing that amazes most visitors do our home.

We've had it for so long, its just hard to imagine it not being there.
