What cost more c band transponder on 99w or ota transmitter at rf channel 31. This is a mixed of ota and fta question. Does local tv stations get money frm pay tv companies to broadcast there signal or other way around. can someone please explain this to me? I wanted to see wane tv on 99w cband just need some info.

why would your LOCAL station be up on satellite?

The only reason it would would be if there is a major issue of the transmitter. Last time there was stations on C/KU for a time was (last I remember) Hurricane Katrina. The ABC & CW (I think...I know it was WGNO) were on KU for a while

And if they put it up there they can always scramble it. I know the Minneapolis CBS & NBC are on C-Band (107.3) because the cable companies in Manitoba use WCCO & KARE as part fo the US Nets. But they are scrambled (really scrambled)

Most cable companies get the networks via fibre
