Now I'm wondering if I even should mess with this lnbf. I thought it would be made out of aluminum, but the tube from the outside where the feedhorn cap goes on, into inside of the flange, is made of steel!

Has anyone else had any problems with theirs rusting out or anything?

The only issue I had was the Horizontal side shorting out when it got super cold (below zero)....otherwise it worked fine. The shorting out was 2 years after I had it out in the MN winters

Swapped it for a dual because.....well there is so much more you can do with a dual than a single

never rusted and the LNB was used outside here in MN for about 2 years...then as noted above the horizontal side would short out (show no signal) when the temp got below zero.

when you install it make sure the vertical probe is at the top instead of the bottom....this prevents water from rusting it out....it will work either way though....

Well. All I can say is beware of clones! Come to find out, the real LNBF sold by DMS international is made from aluminum!

The lnb I bought off of eBay had a DMS international sticker on it.

DMS and WSI's lnbs are both made out of aluminum. The tube that goes into the scalar ring is molded together. Both have a cast in F-D gauge.

The lnbf I got has a tube that is separate! Also the sticker put on it is way different the DMS international one. The cast in f/d gauge is also missing.

No wonder yours did not rust ice, there is nothing to rust! :)

All I can say is stay away from hypermegasat. Sold me a clone made of steel!

A Steel LNB???
When did you buy this???

Hi coinmaster32,

This is Casey, owner of HyperMegaSat. I sold you that LNB, the BSC421.

There are 2 versions of the BSC421 sold by DMS.

One is Linear Only, the other Linear/Circular with a dilectric plate.

You bought the Linear only, they are made the same to my knowledge.

I would never sell a clone. Contact DMS (www.dmsiusa.com) to verify what I am saying.

You are correct on the F/D markings. The Linear only model does not have those markings.

You received your payment back in full, since you were not happy with the transaction.

I hope we are square now.

I applogize for suspecting you of selling a clone. I guess the linear one is made out of steel.

I would advise that when you sell future ones, to take a picture of the actual item, because I was suspecting the cast in F/D gauge.

It's also against eBay policy to sell an item with a stock photo of a different item unless it says "you may receive a similar item". It's a wonder you have not had more cases. When you sell something, it has to be exactly like the one pictured. That would be like paying for a Ford F-150 with a lariat trim package and getting one that is the base package.

Also put in the description that the F/D gauge is not on this model and it has a separate piece made of steel.

Quick general question from a newbie :)

A neat way to test lnbs!
