I know that I can page up or page down easily or enter in the desired channel when browsing through hundreds of channels, however, I was wondering if there was a way to do the same going horizontally so to speak. What if today is Tuesday and I wanted to record something 3 days away. Do I have to sit there and press the right scroll button 100 times? Is there an easier way?

I do get a decent thumb exercise out of it!

You didn't say what receiver you have. If its a DVR when in the guide the skip forward/reverse buttons move you forward or back 24 hours. You can also type the number of hours and press the right arrow to move ahead or left arror to move back that many hours. (example 72 right arrow will go ahead 72 hours)
