I've got an almost new 1.5 UHF remote for my 4900 receiver. It has been working fine until I had some friends stay in my house while I was gone. I have no control at all over the sat receiver and only limited control over the TV if I have the remote within about 6 inches of the TV. I've checked and double checked the addresses and all are okay. Changed batteries, too. One odd thing I notice is that when I push the volume control, the AUX light comes on instead of the TV light. I can turn the TV on and off and change channels, but I cannot change volume.

Is there some type of master reset for these things, or do I need to buy a new remote?

Sounds broken, take the batteries out, press the sat button for 5 seconds and then put the batteries back in and see if it will control the receiver, if it does then you should set the code for the tv from the owners manual.
