November 16, 2005 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting and Colocation provider Equinix (equinix.com) announced on Wednesday that BroadBand Phone would move into the Equinix Internet Business Exchange center in Sydney, Australia. BraodBand Phone will use the facility as its primary interconnection point for delivering wholesale voice over IP services to service providers.
Equinix says the many carriers and ISPs operating out of the hub will enable BroadBand Phone to avoid the cost of reaching these services providers in multiple locations at long distances. BroadBand will be able to exchange VoIP traffic with carriers around the world and provide dedicated hosting of IP-PBXs for SMB clients.
"By operating at Equinix, BroadBand Phone will enjoy a carrier neutral and redundant environment for hosting its VoIP services with immediate proximity to customer and partner networks," says Doug Oates, managing director for Equinix Australia. "BroadBand Phone is one of the first VoIP wholesale providers in Australia, and we expect their participation at Equinix to attract more VoIP service providers into Equinix's Sydney hub."
Equinix has more than 100 customers operating out of the Sydney-based facility.
