Brewers are back

I was 12 when they were really good last time....37 now....It has been a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

I think the will fizzle out in the end. They have a good team taking advantage of a WIDE open National League Central division. I was a HUGE brewers fan from the late 70s early 80s. Hell, I even remember the starting line up:

Paul Molitor 3b
Jim Gantner 28
Robin Yount ss
Cecil Cooper 1b
Ben Oglivie OF
Ted Simmons C
Sixto Lezcano OF
Gorman Thomas OF
Rollie Fingers p
Pete Vuckowvich p
Jim Slaton p

Those were all I can remember...but I LOVED that team. Paul Molitor use to be my favorite player. Hell, I am STILL hurting after they lost the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The last time the Brewers a serious competitive team they were in the AL East and had Players like Robin Yount and Paul Molitor. Killers player who killed both boston and the Yankees. I loved that team. Do they have the best record in Baseball or was I dreaming? I really hope they keep it up. I am pulling for them and the pirates.

A lot of people thought the Tigers weren't for real last year, too. This is a talented young club. If not this year, then next year for sure. Too much talent to be denied.

When did Brewers join the league?

The Seattle pilots were part of the 69 expansion of the AL. they wee moved to Milwaukee and renamed the Brewers in honor of the team that later became the st. Luis browns and now Baltimore Orioles. They moved to the NL for the 1998 season because of the expansion that created one new team in each league (Arizona and tampa) and no one wanted an odd number of teams in either league. They were actually the second franchise asked to move. KC was given the option first.
