Attached is a spreadsheet showing the year to date box office gross to date for the top 50 movie releases for 2007.

As always I like to remind people that box office gross HAS ABSOLUTELLY NOTHING TO DO with the quality of the actual movie.

Some interesting statistics…..

74% of the to 50 movies (37/50) ((Blue)) will be on the Blue-Ray format. As opposed to 54% (27/50) ((Red)) for HD-DVD. 24% (12/50) ((Purple)) will be released in both HD formats.

*Shooter and Norbit are Paramount HD-DVD exclusive movies but the Blue-Ray versions of the moves are already on the market. These titles are counted in the Blue-Ray & HD-DVD totals.

Total exclusive box office gross for Blue-Ray exclusive titles is 2.4 Billion as opposed to 1.67 Billion for HD-DVD titles. Total box office gross for the top 50 movies is just over 5 billion.

While HD-DVD has gained a major studio with the addition of Paramount franchise the format is missing almost half of all titles that will be released in an HD format.
